Tom Gauld

Tom Gauld is an illustrator and comic book artist.

Tom works with both micro and macro worlds. The vastness of a landscape or the never ending scale of a machine can dwarf the human impact. In contrast, a minor misunderstanding or tiff between two astronauts can over shadow the spectacular feat of space travel. In Tom’s work life is distilled down to it’s most important element, human nature and thus the mundane and infantile is celebrated – creating the most endearing and uplifting of vantage points.

In addition to his career as an Illustrator, Tom has also garnered a following among comic book aficionados, having published the following comics; The Gigantic Robot, Guardians of the Kingdom, 3 Very Small Comics (Volumes One to Three), Robots, Monsters etc and Hunter and Painter. He regularly travels in America and Europe to take part in comics festivals.

Since 2005 he has been illustrating a regular column for the letters page of the Guardian’s Saturday Review.
